What inspired you to want a life in Architecture and the creative industries?:
Ive always gravitated towards art from a very young age. Always finding myself sketching, painting and creating characters, designs and fully immersed in the art and design classes from primary school. When it was time to make a choice in career, architecture intrigued me. The idea of buidling monuments from a conceptual drawing to reality on a much bigger canvas. My journey through design has also led me from architecture into fashion where I found the ability to joyfully express my creativity and also build a business running a clothing and design company.
Who inspired you in finding your path to Architecture/Film and the creative industries?:
My influences are very broad stretching between music, art, fashion and life in general. In architecture, i drew inspiration from people like Zaha Hadid. From Fashion I drew inspiriation from the stories of Armancio Ortega, Marc Ecko and many independent labels from Nigeria and abroad. Inspiration for me comes in seasons or interests that pique my attention.
How you unlock obstacles and overcome bias in your work?:
Obstacles are unlocked by seeking answers, finding solutions to problems and being unafraid to try, to fail or take risks. It is said that information is power. The Uninformed is handicapped in making good decisions or coming to a sensible conclusion on any matter. Information is acquired from asking questions and doing research.
What improvements do you feel are required to promote effective change in the academic and working environment?:
Improvements are required in the way information is dispersed and made accessible.
There is a gap between real time and real life applications of studies or research work being carried out in academia. Some research papers or design proposals sometime remain on either paper or a by-line online.
The funding could also be improved between donors and executors of both research work and projects designed to improve lives or drive design appreciation.
Its always a challenge between having a brilliant idea and having access to either financial resource or human resource to help execute.
