What inspired you to want a life in Architecture and the creative industries?:
I loved the impact that everyday life has on an individual; the spaces we move through, the experiences we feel, the things we see and feel and how all of it contributes to making or breaking ones day. I want to use the built environment to model positivity and make the world a better place.
Who inspired you in finding your path to Architecture/Film and the creative industries?:
When I started the journey, it was an explorative motive and the the title it gives. But once I graduated, I had many mentors and inspiration, nationally as well as internationally. Back home, I was inspired by works of Jason (Pem Gyeltshen) and the detail he put into design developement. Rebecca Gurung was another, she was my mentor who saw the passion in me and let me explore some of the wild ideas. Others away from home include Dr. Robert Wimmer and Rajat Batra who introduced me to the technicalities of sustainable development, while Dr. Rosa SchionaPhan and Benson Lau inspired me to develop my curosity and build on it. Today, I am still a big fan of legendary architects as Le Corbusier and Louis Kahn. I love the artistic poetry that define the spaces they have developed.
How you unlock obstacles and overcome bias in your work?:
I belive in growth mindset and am consumed by eagerness to learn forever. In my quest for holistic undertanding of the built environment and the constructs of good architecture, I have worked on diverse projects; EU projects on sustianibility front, supported preparation of guidelines and standards for universal acces to energy audit ( both very far from each other), paeticipated in regional competitions and practised as Architect and Specialist for International organizations. I belive knowledge is the key but must used to better lives. We must not confine academic learning to the walls of publications but furter it by using it on real projects. I am on this journey as I am now undertaking PhD in Architecture at Auckland university of Technology, New Zealand. I believe this will help better myself and help me forge new adventures.
What improvements do you feel are required to promote effective change in the academic and working environment?:
People should not judge each other, no idea is bad and there is no PERFECT plan. Opportunities must be provided and everyone should be receptive to the concept of evolution. Everthing changes in time and change must be embraced. We need to focus on response and not resilience. Academic work must focus on solving real world problems and avenues me created to trial test ideas.
