Profession: Designer/ Spatial Practitioner

What inspired you to want a life in Architecture and the creative industries?:
My interest stems from the belief that creativity must be purposeful. Design disciplines offer a unique duality: they require imagination, yet that vision must be anchored by a logical, and empathetic response to the user’s needs. I am driven by the social responsibility inherent in our field, the idea that the environments we inhabit daily should be a thoughtful blend of function, culture, place and cost.
Who inspired you in finding your path to Architecture/Film and the creative industries?:
My journey is rooted in a blend of personal heritage and academic guidance. I was first inspired by my grandfather, a builder in communist Romania, whose resilience and determination in a challenging era provided me the foundation of ambition. My mentors throughout my A-Levels and university studies were instrumental in helping me translate that raw drive into a focused career within the creative industry.
How you unlock obstacles and overcome bias in your work?:
I approach obstacles by reframing them as opportunities; I find that the most unique projects often stem from challenges that demand creative problem-solving.
What improvements do you feel are required to promote effective change in the academic and working environment?:
Creating more conditions to learn from multidisciplines. Spatial challenges, whether architectural, urban, or interior are too often tackled within rigid disciplinary silos and professional boundaries. However, the challenges of the built environment do not sit under the purview of one discipline alone. I believe we have much to learn from other fields, such as public health specialists and policy makers etc, and how they too shape our surroundings. Transdisciplinary collaboration can provide critical insights and field experiences that can enrich both academic and professional practice- a perspective that intrigued me in my postgraduate studies.
