Profession: Development Manager
City: Wembley
Country: United Kingdom

What inspired you to want a life in Architecture and the creative industries?:
Growing up, I was really interested in who was building our cities and what informed the decisions made in the creation of our built environments – I wanted to be part of that discussion in that process because my people are seldom and involved in the conversations that shapes our metropolitan cities.

Who inspired you in finding your path to Architecture/Film and the creative industries?:
Dora Boatemah – she led equitable change on the Angell Town estate in Brixton and represented her community in the best light. Her words still echo in my mind: “Don’t bring us any more of your fancy designs. Ask us to brief you first… we have our own ideas.”

How you unlock obstacles and overcome bias in your work?:
I’m continually trying to master the English language, to not only understand and decipher the underlying message of discourse surrounding the boat environment, but to also be able to translate issues that affect my people to decision makers.

What improvements do you feel are required to promote effective change in the academic and working environment?:
We have to address the power imbalance between landowners (freeholders) and those who occupy their land (tenants or leaseholders).
