‘Barz and Brutalism’ is Celebrating Architecture’s first Alumni event and is centred around the significant connections between several Brutalist and post-war architecture London housing estates, and the rapidly growing British underground music sub­ cultures of UK grime and rap.

It is based on the work of George Whale’s university thesis photo-zine, which documents and contextualises Brutalist Architecture.’Barz and Brutalism’ reasons that these London buildings should be considered an essential part of our city’s social and musical heritage, through their role in the UK grime and rap scenes’ development and visual aesthetic.
