NY-LON (New York-London) is a travel initiative where 10 Architecture students form the UK spend a week in New York exploring, designing, and enhancing their network of learning. Partnering with Pratt Institute’s School of Architecture and accompanied by HomeGrown Plus staff, the group will visit leading Architectural practices to learn about their approach to sustainability, social welfare, housing, community engagement, etc.
NY-LON was created to re-inspire the student in their journey within the built environment and create an exchange of ideas and experiences to help nurture a positive change. The initiative is a response to the unacceptably high drop-out rate for students from the global majority along with the disappointingly low rate of one in five qualified Architect identifying themselves as being from the global majority.
This initiative creates a fully paid travel experience for students who would normally not have the opportunity to do so. As such we rely on financial support to be able to provide an impactful experience.
