HomeGrown Plus are pleased to announce our two fellows, Jelena Sofronijevic and Tara Okeke as part of the British Council’s 2026 Venice Fellowships Programme.
HomeGrown Plus are so proud to be UK Partners for the British Council and look forward to Jelena and Tara starting their residency months in Venice in May and August.

Jelena Sofronijevic
Jelena Sofronijevic is a producer, curator, writer, and researcher working across cultural history, politics, and the arts. Their projects include Seeds of Hate and Hope, at the Sainsbury Centre (2025), and they produce EMPIRE LINES, a podcast exploring the unexpected flows of empires through art.
They are pursuing a practice-based PhD at Gray’s School of Art, curating exhibitions with Balkan and Yugoslavian diasporic artists in British collections.

Jelena Sofronijevic
Tara Okeke is a writer, artist, and researcher from London. She has worked across politics, artistic production, and popular culture for publications including The Architectural Review and Dazed.
Guided by lived experience of care-giving, she has contributed to research on diasporic heritage in the UK and facilitated dementia-friendly reminiscence workshops. Tara’s research project in Venice will examine the images, language and ideologies that surround lives lived after the diagnosis of illness.
